When you’re trying to lose weight, or not feeling your best, and trying to feel good about yourself, you want to find an outfit that fits, right? A sportswear that makes you look your best!
I understand. I know what it's like to be over weight, and also how it feels to be in good condition. There was a time I would wear baggy clothing to hide my weight and felt unhappy about my body. I wanted to wear something that was comfortable, affordable, and that had a bit of flair.
A lot of work goes into creating a clothing line, just like work goes into setting goals about the way you would like to look or feel.
I know from experience that when you start a journey or set a goal you get really excited but then the excitement fades, it starts to get hard, and mental break down starts. Motivation starts to dwindle, because of self-doubt happens and you wonder if you should push on through or quit.
Friends and family sometimes encourage or discourage you depending how they feel, which then reflects on you. Your emotions through the journey can sometimes sway your progress and destablilise your decision… when those moments happen, you start to question yourself and the seed is planted in your mind for the idea that you should give up.
For me the experience going through my weight loss challenge and physiological challenges, injuries and setbacks have given me an appreciation for what it feels like to want to quit.
During my competition days it often felt like everyone looked better than I. My thoughts were 'what makes me think I look as good as them or better?' That self-doubt was often pretty defining.
But I knew in myself that I can accomplish things. And I was right.
Currently holding New Zealand titles in body building I know that despite hardship, anything is possible.
Creating the ILA brand sprang out of my love of dressing smart and passion for fashion. I wanted to create my own brand. I wanted to share with the world what I love Aesthetics means to me:
That a great sportswear brand, fabricated to suit individual physiques can make people feel confident and good about themselves.
